 Crimson Timber Salvage Environmental Assessment
SMITH was part of a multi-disciplinary team to complete an impact assessment and co-author an EA which evaluated the proposed treatment of a 5,000-acre pine beetle kill area and road decommissioning. We prepared a Soils Resource and Assessment report summarizing a field investigation in proposed timber harvest areas and an assessment of probable impacts associated with the prescribed burn and timber harvesting. We gathered soils data during field investigations to augment published data and include in the report and completed spatial analysis of published data using ArcView. These soil characteristics were investigated in over 400 soil borings that were completed to document the topsoil and subsoil variability across the 5,000-acre study area. |
