 Monument Lake Dam Rehabilitation
In 2001 the Colorado State Engineer ordered that Monument Lake Dam be breached or repaired because of potential for failure. The dam occurs on known PMJM habitat. SMITH completed environmental planning, studies and permitting that paved the way for the establishment of a recreation area around the lake. We also completed a BA and an amended BA. We then developed a mitigation plan to create wetlands and a PMJM habitat corridor along the west shore of the lake. SMITH’s project team received the 2003 National Rehabilitation Award from the Association of State Dam Safety Officers. |
