 Republican River Compact Litigation - Land Use Support
The State of Colorado was involved in litigation with the states of Nebraska and Kansas over the withdrawal of water the Republican River watershed in eastern Colorado. SMITH was hired to complete a technical report evaluating federal government supported soil and water conservation practices in eastern Colorado over the last 75 years and their affect on runoff in the watershed in eastern Colorado, and prepare for expert witness testimony on this topic. This report included an extensive review of the federal government’s numerous soil and water conservation programs over the last 75 years as well as many other issues. The case was settled out of court in 2005 and expert witness services were not needed. |
